NNA - Former Prime Minister Najib Mikati criticized on Monday the ongoing discussions on the electoral law, noting that these were new attempts to draft an election law to the size of individuals and certain allies.
According to Mikati, the ongoing discussions on the electoral law do not reflect the Lebanese aspirations to a modern electoral law.
"The two conditions necessary for the success of the electoral law lie in the single-standard concept in all Lebanese regions and in guaranteeing fair representation to the largest group of voters," he said.
According to Mikati, leakage from ongoing discussions means the adoption of double standards by resorting to the majority in certain regions, whereas proportional representation would be imposed elsewhere, in particular in large cities.
