Mikati meets UN, Progressive Socialist Party delegations over key issues

NNA – Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Thursday met with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, with whom he discussed general conditions and developments in southern Lebanon.
PM Mikati also met with UN Resident Coordinator, Imran Riza, with whom he discuss service and humanitarian coordination between the government and UN agencies.
A Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) delegation, led by MP Taymour Jumblatt, also had an audience with Mikati to discuss an array of national issues.
MP Wael Abou Faour praised Mikati's efforts to manage state affairs despite challenges and emphasized the necessity of electing a new president and holding national dialogue.
PM Mikati also met with MP Akram Chehayeb, with whom he broached regional developmental issues. He also discussed with Telecommunications Minister, Johnny Corm, a number of issues involving the telecoms sector.
MPs Walid Baarini and Ahmad Restom discussed with the PM the latest political developments in northern Lebanon.
Additionally, Mikati received a delegation from the Association of Retired Armed Forces, led by Major General Nicolas Mezher, who discussed pensions and retirement benefits.
University professors also proposed initiatives to enhance entrepreneurship and economic conditions.
